ScubaJet FAQs
How fast does the Scuba Jet go?
The ScubaJet will top out at just under 7 mph in good conditions when going overwater, such as a kayak or sup motor, and almost 5 mph when used as an underwater scooter. The current, tide, and weight/drag of the passenger can affect speed, including increasing speed when going with the water flow.
Does ScubaJet float?
The ScubaJet does not float. It weighs almost 6 lbs and has negative buoyancy. If you let go of it, it will sink. Even in salt water, where you naturally have more buoyancy, it will still sink. For this reason, children's use is only recommended in shallow lake and ocean waters, or pools.
What is the difference between ScubaJet Pro and Neo?
The difference between the ScubaJet Pro and the ScubaJet Neo is the battery. The ScubaJet Neo has (1) 500 Watt battery, which can be upgraded to 1000w, that will run up to 1 hour, while the ScubaJet Pro has 2 batteries stacked for a total capacity of 1000w with up to 2 hours of runtime. The Neo will top out at just over 3 mph when used underwater, while the ScubaJet Pro can reach 4.5 mph.
How long is the battery life on the ScubaJet Pro?
Your ScubaJet Pro battery will give you up to 2 hours of runtime. Upgrading to the Pro XR will double it up to almost 4 hours.
Where is Scubajet made?
ScubaJet is an Austrian company that was founded in 2016. Units are researched, designed, developed, and manufactured in Klagenfurt, Austria.
How big is the ScubaJet?
The ScubaJet Pro is almost 7 lbs, while the Pro XR is 10 lbs. The ScubaJet Neo is 5.29 lbs.
Can you take a ScubaJet on an airplane?
Yes, you can take the ScubaJet Pro and Neo on an airplane as a carry-on item. they are safe for air travel and completely legal on airplanes.
Why can't you fly after scuba diving?
Diving can lead to a condition known as Decompression Sickness, 'The Bends', or generalized barotrauma. This can happen to divers because of the quick change in the pressure surrounding their bodies.
As a diver goes deeper there is more pressure. If the diver ascends toward the water surface quickly, bubbles can begin forming around joints, spinal cord, and brain. This can result in anything from numbness leading to paralysis and impaired brain function and coordination. Death is possible.
The other way to get decompression sickness is at high altitudes or if you were to travel in a plane that isn't properly pressurized. Since those 2 extremes are the cause of the condition, you do not want to combine them into a short time window. If you do, the body is exposed to even more extreme changes in pressure.
Our ScubaJet Review:
The ScubaJet is one of our staff's favorite water scooters. The multiple options of how you can use the ScubaJet is one of its biggest strengths. Not only do you have options for using it as a dive scooter, kayak motor, SUP motor, and more; but you also have battery options that you can adjust for longer and shorter expeditions.
We have used the ScubaJet for a variety of activities including diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Our most common use is using them for fun in the water when we are boating and relaxing on the water. We've used the ScubaJet coving out at the Lake of the Ozarks and after we beach on sandbars in the ocean, both add a lot of fun to the day for your entire crew. It will get the attention of many people, as most haven't had this experience before.
It is lightweight and easy to take with you on the go, even on airplanes. The added light beam feature makes nighttime and sunken ship explorations easier and safer. Not only is it one of the fastest underwater scooters, but it also has more battery power and runtime than competitor models.
The ScubaJet gets a high grade from us. There is no doubt that it is in the conversation for the best underwater scooter and we are confident that you will agree. If you want to add a lot of fun and efficiency to your days on the lake and ocean, the ScubaJet is your answer.
